5:00 AM to midnight most days, until 1:00 AM after Fridays, and from 8:00 AM on Sundays - the one late start to remember. Both lines share the same timetable.
How much does the Dubai Metro cost?
From AED 3.00 with a Silver Nol card, rising to AED 7.50 across 3+ zones, with a daily cap of AED 14.00. Buy a Silver Nol card (AED 25, incl. AED 19 credit) at any station.
How many lines and stations are there?
Two operational lines - Red (35 stations) and Green (20) - totalling 55 stations across about 90 km. The Blue Line (14 stations) opens in 2029 and the Gold Line (18) in 2032.
Which station is for Dubai Airport?
Terminal 3 and Terminal 1 have their own Red Line stations. Terminal 2 has no metro - use Dubai Airport Free Zone on the Green Line plus a short walk or taxi.
Where do the Red and Green lines meet?
At Union and BurJuman - the only two interchanges, where you change trains free without tapping out.
Can I eat or drink on the Dubai Metro?
No - eating and drinking (water included) past the fare gates is an AED 100 fine. It is the most-issued fine on the network.
Is the Dubai Metro driverless?
Yes - it has run fully automated since 2009 and is one of the longest driverless networks in the world. The front Gold Class cabin has the best forward view.
